Meet the Team
President & Founder
Brandy Marchetti
Brandy created Ride for a Cure in 2020 during the heat of COVID. "I have been working with cancer-based non-profits since 2018. I am a board member of Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center and was the event lead for Relay for Life in Hancock County. My aunt passed in 2000 of cancer and my grandfather in 2016. They were two of my biggest supporters. I have so many people who have battled cancer and this is my way to continue the battle for them."
Vice President
Edward Jellison
Ed has been part of Ride for a Cure since it started in 2020. He is a huge help when it comes to keeping ideas simple. The day of the event, Ed can be found as the last man on the trail ensuring everyone has made it back safely.
Treasurer
Kelsey McLain
Kelsey joined Ride for a Cure in 2023 because "Cancer has affected or will affect most of us. It has touched my life more times than I would like to count. Ride for a Cure brings awareness and support to programs that are needed to help those families who receive those life changing words. Being able to help support those services and giving back to those who have helped so many I love is a good feeling."
Secretary
Pamela Morse
Pamela grew up in Machias and moved to Ellsworth in 1996. Being a member of RFAC is very important to her as she watched her husband, sister, and in- laws fight this battle, and they all passed within about a year. Again, in the last 3 years, she watched her brother-in-law and nephew fight the battle, and they passed away about a year apart. She was very thankful for the help they received from different organizations. She feels if she is a part of RFAC, she can give back to others, and make a difference for another family.
Board Member
Aileen Young
Aileen has been with Ride for a Cure since 2020. Aileen is an amazing asset to this event as she ensures everything is ready for registration and prepares for ATV'ers safe return to the clubhosue at the end of the event.
Committee Member
Brian Perepchuk
Brian joined Ride for a Cure as a favor in 2020 to help with trail assistance. Brian has lost both his mom and sister to cancer and Ride for a Cure is his way of keeping their memories alive.
Committee Member
Matt McLain
Matt joined Ride for a Cure in 2023 because:
"I chose to join this cause as cancer has affected both sides of my family. My mother and mother-in-law both are cancer survivors. There can never be enough awareness or support for the many types of cancers that affect us all and Ride for a Cure does both of those things. I myself had a personal cancer scare that really opened my eyes to the affects it has on all of us especially your loved ones."
Committee Member
Kathy Strout
Kathy joined the Ride for a Cure committee in 2022. "I ride and support this cause because breast cancer came into my life in October of 1996. I survived, but too many do not. Both of us have lost family members, my brother and Jeff's father. Two close friends are currently in treatment. The fight is real. They need our support. And the cause needs public awareness, and money. Ride For A Cure does this."
Committee Member
Karen Hammond
Karen grew up in Machias, married Wayne Hammond, and had three wonderful children, Jimmy, Heather, and Kevin. She has adopted my grandson Calvin, who keeps her young. She moved to Ellsworth in 1996 after her sister Frances and her brother-in-law Greg both passed away within 3 months of each other. They both passed after fighting a long battle with cancer. She lost her husband, best friend Wayne he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019 and passed in Jan 2020, She also lost her nephew Douglas to pancreatic cancer within a year of Wayne. Being a part of RFAC helps her heal knowing she is giving back and helping another family who is going through this horrible disease.
